2 x Self
As a capsule of six looks, 2 x Self is named after the language of clothing manufacturing. “Self” denotes a garment’s primary fabric, while “2 x self” instructs the maker to cut a pattern piece twice from that material. Here, the phrase takes on another meaning: two designers, two entities, and the meeting of two worlds — fashion and art. Made from a studio within our home, the collection takes cues from the domestic life of clothing, from the way garments are worn, discarded, piled, and turned inside out. Silhouettes sit away from the body, low-slung and streamlined, retaining something of the ease that inspired them. Seams turn outward. Heavy volumes collapse through godets. Pattern pieces overlap and twist. Lengths of fabric are caught up and suspended into bustles. Familiar gestures of dressing and undressing become mechanisms for making clothes. These pieces reveal the hidden engineering that structures silhouettes. Intimate details of constructions – a twist, a bustle, and inside-out seaming – take center stage.
LOOK ONE, THE DARLING

LOOK TWO, THE SCHOLAR
JADE WEARS THE FLARED MINI SHIRT-DRESS IN ANTIQUE WHITE STRIPE JACQUARD COTTON VOILE. ITS SHAPE IS DERIVED FROM THE COCOON SHIRT OF SEASONS PAST. THE GOSSAMER OVERLAY REVEALS THE ALTERNATING GRAINLINES OF THE BLACK & WHITE STRIPE COTTON POPLIN LINING, CREATING A REVERBERATION OF PATTERN. FITTED AT THE WAIST, THE SKIRT IS VOLUMIZED WITH GODETS OF VARYING SIZES. AKOYA SHELL BUTTONS DOT THE FRONT PLACKET & CUFFS.
LOOK THREE, THE DAYDREAMER
JADE WEARS THE BUSTLED PATCHWORK SKIRT IN COMPETING STRIPES OF COTTON & SILK, FESTOONED WITH LOOPED TIES THAT FASTEN TO AKOYA SHELL BUTTONS LINING THE WAISTBAND TO CREATE ITS VOLUME. THE DIMENSIONAL SKIRT IS OFFSET BY A CLEAN, HIGH-NECK HALTER TANK THAT SKIMS THE BUSTLINE & EXPOSES THE BACK. THE SPORTY TOP IS CUT IN PYRITE VISCOSE CHAINMAIL & EDGED IN BRONZE HERRINGBONE TAPE BINDING.
LOOK FOUR, THE NOBLE
JADE WEARS THE BUSTLED EVENING JACKET IN BLACK SILK TAFFETA—AN EXUBERANT, COCOON-SHAPED TAKE ON A TUXEDO JACKET—SPLIT AT THE BACK WITH LOOPED TIES THAT BUSTLE AT THE SHOULDER BLADES. FRAYED BLACK SILK CHIFFON TRACES THE JACKET’S EDGES & A GROSGRAIN RIBBON TIES AT THE NECK. SHE WEARS IT ATOP THE REVERSIBLE, LAYERED SPLIT-BACK BLOUSE IN BIAS-CUT RED-STRIPE COTTON POPLIN, OVERLAID WITH BRONZE, NAVY, & IVORY SATIN-STRIPE SILK GAUZE. JADE WEARS THE COCOON SHIRT IN LAVENDER COTTON CHIFFON WITH THE CLASSIC TIE IN BLUE-DOTTED IVORY TIE BROCADE. THE TRANSLUCENT SHIRT HAS A BARELY-THERE QUALITY & PILES ABOVE THE LOW-SLUNG LAYERED PENCIL SKIRT. BRONZE, NAVY, & IVORY SATIN-STRIPE SILK GAUZE IS FRAMED IN RED-WHITE STRIPE COTTON POPLIN. ALTERNATING BIAS GRAINLINES CREATE A SENSE OF MOVEMENT, WHILE HORIZONTAL BACK DARTS DISRUPT THE OTHERWISE PRISTINE PATTERN.
LOOK SIX, THE CHARMER
JADE WEARS THE SPLIT-SEAM DRESS IN ULTRAMARINE SILK CHIFFON LINED IN LAVENDER COTTON CHIFFON. A DELICATE TIE CLOSES THE OTHERWISE PLUNGING NECKLINE, WHILE THE BACK FEATURES THE SIGNATURE TWIST DETAIL. DESIGNED TO MIMIC AN INSIDE-OUT CONSTRUCTION, THE SILHOUETTE IS OUTLINED BY EXPOSED “BUSTED SEAMS” IN COTTON CHIFFON. THE TWO SHEER LAYERS MIX TO CREATE ITS VIBRANT HUE, OFFSET BY THE BOLD, FRAYED SEAMWORK.
